Annual Report: Virginia Home Visiting 2016
For more than 25 years, Virginia’s system of Early Childhood Home Visiting programs has partnered with local communities throughout the Commonwealth to provide critical education and support services to vulnerable families with young children. Early Impact Virginia (formerly the Virginia Home Visiting Consortium) is the alliance for family education and support services provided in the home. As such, Early Impact Virginia is pleased to present this report on the collective impact of home visiting in Virginia.
Federal and Virginia policy and elected leaders have long recognized the value of supporting families from the earliest possible point through home visiting. In recent years, the home visiting field has changed and grown in a number of ways. New investment in home visiting through the federal Maternal Infant Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) program has contributed to increasing the number of families receiving services and strengthened the statewide system of support for local programs and providers. Virginia has a demonstrated track record of public-private collaboration across home visiting program models to leverage scarce resources. As a result, the home visiting network was well positioned to capitalize on increased state funding by supporting state and local partners to realize effective growth strategies.
