Home Visiting in Virginia

For over 25 years, Virginia’s home visiting programs have been a cornerstone in improving maternal and child health, strengthening family resilience, fostering healthier communities and supporting children’s school-readiness. Through a network of diverse programs, trained professionals provide personalized support during pregnancy and a child’s early years.

In partnership with federal initiatives like the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) Program, Virginia has expanded access to underserved families and achieved measurable outcomes. Led by Early Impact Virginia, these programs continue to innovate and adapt, overcoming challenges like workforce shortages and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Focused on equity and collaboration, Virginia’s home visiting system empowers families and serves as a critical prevention strategy, driving long-term benefits for children and communities statewide.

Our Impact

WHAT VIRGINIA FAMILIES SAY

  • “My home visitor has had a profound impact on my life and the lives of my children. Her unwavering support and dedication have made a tremendous difference. Not only does she provide essential assistance like books, crafts, birthday presents, diapers, and wipes, but she goes above and beyond by creating a sense of family and belonging. Through her compassion and care, she has transformed my previous feelings of loneliness into a comforting and supportive environment. Her presence in our lives has truly been a blessing, and we are grateful for her invaluable support.”
